Yearbook 2017

Saint Christopher and Nevis. According to Countryaah.com, the fierce atmosphere between the government, led by Prime Minister Timothy Harris, and the opposition leader, former Prime Minister Denzil Douglas, continued during the year. Douglas was ejected from Parliament’s first meeting in January after acting in a manner that President Michael Perkins described as disrespectful and outrageous. Just a few days earlier, an application for a declaration of confidence was rejected against the President, Douglas. Douglas was forced to leave the chamber after repeatedly interrupting Perkins and screaming loudly at him. See ABBREVIATIONFINDER for frequently used acronyms and abbreviations related to as well as country profile of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Later in the year, the government demanded that Denzil Douglas lose his seat in parliament because he was alleged to hold a diplomatic passport issued by another country, namely Dominica. Douglas, for his part, had accused Prime Minister Harris of the same. Both gentlemen denied that they would have foreign passports.
