The entry of foreign citizens is permitted in accordance with the terms of the Intergovernmental Agreements.
All passengers over the age of 12, including Egyptian citizens, arriving in Egypt must carry a certificate with a negative PCR test result for COVID-19, no earlier than 72 hours before departure to Egypt. The certificate must be in Arabic or English with the seal of the laboratory, the exact date and time of sampling. The document must be issued by an official laboratory accredited in the country of origin.
The following requirements apply to the PCR test:
- Original test on paper with the seal of a certified laboratory in the country of departure (QR code is not required in this case);
or - If a passenger presents a non-original test (copy), there must be a readable QR code, which, when scanned, displays information about the medical institution where the biomaterial was taken.
From June 25, 2021, passengers who have been fully vaccinated with Sputnik V, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Johnson&Johnson vaccines are allowed to enter if they have a vaccination certificate with a readable QR code. At least 14 days must pass from the moment of the second vaccination.
Tourists arriving at the airport of Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Marsa Alam or Taba can do the test at the airport (for an additional fee).
From 01/19/2022 The rules for entering Egypt have not changed much, the type of testing at the airport and the quarantine period have changed. Below are the details.
Upon arrival in Egypt, all tourists aged 12 years and over must present at the airport the original PCR test results that meet the following requirements:
– The time and date of testing is indicated, from the moment of which no more than 72 hours have passed.
– A document with a live seal and contains a QR code (should contain: laboratory name, full name, foreign passport number, date of birth, type of test (PCR), date and time of material sampling, result).
– In Arabic or English.
For vaccinated tourists
Egypt allows vaccinated tourists to enter the country with a certificate of vaccination.
Entry is allowed no earlier than 14 days after receiving the second dose of the vaccine (Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, Sinopharm, Sinovac and Sputnik V, Johnson & Johnson.)
You must have a certificate in English with a QR code that can be read and opened on the website of the issuing institution.
If the documents listed above are: missing, contain errors, the QR code is not readable, the passenger will be asked to take an ID NOW (British Rapid Testing Standard) rapid test for antigens. Price as before $30 per person. The result of the test is promised in 15 minutes.
If the result of such a rapid test is positive, isolation for 5 days in a booked hotel, with a retest after 5 days.
If the second test is also positive, the quarantine is extended for another 5 days, after which it ends.
If the result of the first express test is negative, the tourist can check into a hotel and rest.
